Abstract submission guidelines

 

ABRASTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE is January 13, 2021

  1. The abstract can be submitted at the time of registration. However, it will be considered for evaluation after your payment is received;
     

  2. The presenting author must register to the event, and if he or she is an SBG member, the annual membership fee must be paid in full;
     

  3. The abstract must be submitted electronically in PDF format. The formats .doc and .docx are not accepted;
     

  4. The abstract must report an unpublished study. Project descriptions, study outlines or published studies will not be accepted;
     

  5. The abstract must be written in English;
     

  6. The abstract must be submitted to one of the following areas: Human Genetics, Animal Genetics, Plant Genetics, Microbial Genetics, Genomics and Bioinformatics, Mutagenesis, and Teaching;
     

  7. Each participant can submit and present only one abstract, but can be the co-author of unlimited abstracts;
     

  8. Abstracts will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee and the decision with respect to acceptance will be informed in the presenting author’s account;
     

  9. The acceptance will be based on the following aspects: clearly defined and relevant objectives, adequate methodology, clearly presented results, and relevant conclusions;
     

  10. The quality of the text (grammar, spelling and format) will also be considered as an evaluation criterion by the Scientific Committee;
     

  11. The deadline for abstract submission will be January 13, 2021, after which the submission form will be unavailable;
     

  12. The accepted studies must be presented in a poster format during the period of the meeting. Each poster will have a space of 1 x 1 m. The authors are free to choose the size and font type for the poster’s title and text;
     

  13. Only one certificate will be issued for each presented abstract, containing the title of the study and the name of the author and all co-authors according to the information submitted in the system;
     

  14. The text must be in size 11 Arial font, have single line spacing and justified paragraph;
     

  15. The poster must have a hanging string or the presenters should bring their own adhesive tape for fixing the poster to the panel;
     

  16. Presentations must be made in English* or Portuguese, preferably;
     

  17. The slides used for the oral presentations (for award-selected studies) must be written in English* and the presentations performed in English or Portuguese.

*We encourage the use of English in the lectures, abstracts, posters and slides to increase the international exposure of Brazilian Genetics contributions and ensure greater interaction with foreign researchers. Our goal is to open the doors to internationalization for current and future Brazilian researchers. The Genetics 2020 Meeting will have sessions in Portuguese and in English (identified by the language of the session titles). In sessions presented by non-Portuguese speakers, all interactions (including by Brazilians) must be in English.
 

Abstracts and Posters of the TEACHING sub-area must be presented in Portuguese.
